BORG’s secretary Mark Nicholson’s adulation of Elvis Presley is hardly a secret to anyone, nor is his admiration for local lad Gareth Gates. Mark even sang alongside Gareth at Skegness in 2012 (above).

Following the recent endorsement of Bradford Live’s plans by John Newman and Embrace, Mark forwarded details of Lee Craven’s proposal to Gareth Gates for his personal consideration. This is what the star from East Bowling has to say about Bradford Live’s vision for the Odeon:

“Transforming this Bradford landmark into a live music venue would enhance our city’s appeal.”

Following the heady rush of his initial successes that immediately followed his appearance on Pop Idol, Gareth Gates has since managed to progress his career towards being a major theatre star and he also remains to be a mainstay on British television. Gareth has also never turned his back on Bradford, and in 2011 he co-founded the Gates Academy Of Performing Arts at his former school in the city. Gareth’s endorsement of Bradford Live’s exciting plans is another vote of confidence for the Odeon’s future.
