Dynamo goes to the pictures…

“Magician Impossible” Dynamo paid a nostalgic visit to the Bradford Odeon building this morning. The internationally-renowned illusionist, originally from the Delph Hill area of the city, had approached Bradford Council to request a personal site visit to the former cinema which still provides happy childhood memories for the superstar.

Dynamo’s production crew were also present as the internal tour was to be filmed for inclusion in a forthcoming show in his television series.

The long-standing campaign work of the Bradford Odeon Rescue Group (BORG) had been previously briefed to Dynamo’s production team by Bradford Council, so group members Mark Nicholson and Matt Shaw were invited to meet with the magician prior to his site visit and BORG were also given an opportunity to obtain Dynamo’s personal viewpoint about the building:

“I think the Odeon should definitely be saved. It’s kind of a landmark in Bradford and there’s so many childhood memories for me. I used to go to the cinema here so see it go would be a sad thing. So this is one building I don’t want to disappear.”

Dynamo was also asked for his opinion of the redevelopment plans currently being considered for the Odeon:

“From what I hear it’s going to be a big concert venue, which is pretty awesome. I reckon that would drive a lot of traffic to Bradford, you know, get some big acts. Maybe I’ll come here and perform at one point, who knows?”

Dynamo’s producer, who had previously visited the Odeon’s interior to establish suitable filming locations, also personally thanked BORG for their efforts and achievements in the campaign to save the building from demolition: “When Bradford Council showed me around the last time I was here they told me all about the work you guys have done for this building. I hope it can be saved.”

Dynamo’s Odeon visit forms part of a wider filming schedule that has been taking place in the city.
